Good work Reuben, smacks of paranoia in my opinion, although i hope no one is surprised. When you are taught the whole world lies at Satan's hands to use against you, paranoia becomes, simply, a byproduct of their belief. Sure V for Vendetta in evil, when your outlook on the world is ''Satan will use everything that is popular to draw you away from God''.

I believe "V for Vendetta" was Alan Moore's polemic against Thatcher's Britain. Mr Moore holds many "unChristain" beliefs but I can't recall him using V in anyway to convey them. I suspect the fundamentalists you mention loathe V as much as they fear anything that questions and could undermine any patriarchal hierarchy. I find it interesting that they automatically identified themselves with the oppressive status-quo and ignored the message of personal and social liberation which V personifies.

Not rationally, certainly. I’m not sure if it could be classed as a form of brainwashing…but it’s certainly an idea worth discussing.
