Who the hell are the BNP?
08Apr. 09

Interesting article today, coming at you from BBC news. It’s a three part article, and while the second part on Saudi Arabia marching proudly into the 14th Century is interesting I’m more interested in the first part about the British National Party. According to the BBC:
“…the British National Party has recruited Jesus Himself in its efforts to get an MEP elected to the European Parliament in June…”
Basically, the BNP is running on the “Jesus would vote for us” platform. Seriously. And when a party outside of the USA runs on a platform like that, I get just a wee bit intrigued. So: Who the hell are the BNP?
First the bad (but not really unexpected) news: The BNP are a bunch of racist jerks. Of course, they don’t think so. After all, they’re just standing up for the rights of white Christians ‘the indigenous British people’. So, what does standing up for TIBM™ involved exactly? I’m glad you asked.
First up is their policy on law and order. Shunning such ‘liberal’ concepts as human rights (after all, criminals aren’t human!) they put forward a number of…interesting ideas, such as
“…the re-introduction of corporal punishment for petty criminals and vandals…”
Whisky Tango Foxtrot? If I weren’t seeing it with my own eyes, I doubt I’d believe it — a political party in modern Britain that wants to bring back…what exactly? Caning? Public flogging? And for petty criminals and vandals…
I’m trying to think of something witty to say about it, but I’m actually struck speechless. Let’s move on to their immigration and foreign aid policies. I want to deal with these two together, because they share a sickening common point.
From their immigration policy:
“…we call for an immediate halt to all further immigration, the immediate deportation of criminal and illegal immigrants, and the introduction of a system of voluntary resettlement whereby those immigrants who are legally here will be afforded the opportunity to return to their lands of ethnic origin assisted by a generous financial incentives both for individuals and for the countries in question.”
From their foreign aid policy:
“We will link foreign aid with our voluntary resettlement policy, whereby those nations taking significant numbers of people back to their homelands will need cash to help absorb those returning.”
Who the hell do these guys think they are? Obviously this puts paid once and for all to the whole ‘not racist’ shtick they were trying to promote — not only do they want all illegal immigrants immediately deported, not only do they want to stop anyone else coming to live in ‘their’ country, but they also want send citizens and residents who have legally immigrated back to the countries they emigrated from…and they want to directly link the amount of aid they send to a country with the number of immigrants who return to it! That steps well over the line of garden variety racism into a complete cross-discipline ethical failure — essentially bribing other countries to take legal residents of your country that you don’t want, specifically because of their race or religion. What freaking dicks.
So that’s the bad news. Here’s the good: The BNP haven’t won a seat in the House of Commons, ever. They hold seats in local government, but the Brits have thus far had the good taste to not elect them to any higher office than that — hopefully a trend that will continue with the European elections.
More good news is this — the closest equivalent to these clowns in Australia seem to be One Nation in terms of racist ideology, and Family First in terms of religious affliation and influence. Both these parties are presently non-issues in terms of political influence, and the trend from the last election seems to be continuing in that direction. One Nation hasn’t been relevant (or even electable) for a while now, and the one remaining Federal member of Family First (Steve Fielding in the Senate) will complete his term in 2011 in the face of what appears to be declining popularity for the party in general.
Finally, I managed to track down some footage of the BNP’s latest policy launch press conference. At least, I think this is them:

Well at least the Australian sense of humour is still alive and kicking. Unfortunatly so is the narrow minded insular taboo Australains cant get rid of. What a load of bull ! Read the BNP website for crying out loud and learn some truth.

Peter,
Please specify what his “false statements” were.
Thank you.

White Christian ?…Many members are Jewish ! Who in the BNP said criminals are not human ? Along with most other BNP members we are not jerks, the BNP Chairman is a Cambridge University law graduate, I am a practicing nurse ! Your true quote stating that illegal immigrants should be immediatly deported, has me scratching my head. Why is this wrong ? The vast majority of these illegal immigrants travel through prosperous countries such as Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium and France before they take a back door into Britain. Ask yourself whats so special about our country ? I will answer it for you. Left wing goverment reps and politicians milking thier worthless careers and thus lining their pockets on behalf of the tax payer.
We are increasingly supporting these people with disproportionate handouts at the expense of guess who ? I have lived for 18 months in Brisbane. I fine city in a fine country. I pray it does not go the way mine has. Trouble is I think Australia is only 10 to 15 years behind. Possibly that is something you would embrace ! ( And I am not talking about the weather or our second rate rugby team).

Peter,
I’ll admit, it’s entirely possible that there are Jews in the BNP membership. There may even be some black people, I don’t know. It doesn’t change the fact that the ideology of the BNP is inherently racist, and that the party is hijacking Christianity to promote its message (note that the “Jesus quote” as you call it came directly from a BNP promotional poster).
Your obsession with illegal immigrants is rather odd too. I only mentioned them in passing, and for the record I also feel that illegal immigrants should be deported (as an important note, I am not lumping asylum seekers into that category, nor shall I make excuses for the conditions at some detainment camps or governmental dragging of heels). My main beef was with the blatantly racist policy of sending legal immigrants ‘home’ and linking this resettlement to foreign aid.
Also, the fact that the BNP chairman is a Cambridge University law graduate means squat to me — a lot of lawyers are jerks too, you know. Aside from a bizarre argument from authority, what did you think you were impressing by mentioning that?

Not trying to impress at all, I suppose it depends on your interpretation of a jerk ! The BNP do not plan to force anybody to live anywhere, other than illegal immigrants. Look up the BNP manifesto. I could go on and on about how and why my country has been destroyed in so many ways. Much of it addmitidly our own fault due to the sreak of apathy within the British character . We only really fight when our backs are to the wall. Then we kick off big time and that is why the BNP are now gaining so much support in the UK.
