Just found this podcast — goodonya! And you have way better music (excepting the Jesus song) than Skeptic Zone. even to an old fogey like me.
I’m curios where Dexter got his figures about lives being saved in India by GM crops. I’ve just done a quick Google search and found that the crop that is widely planted in India is BT cotton, a cash crop. (BT, by the way is a naturally occurring insecticidal bacteria often used in organic growing.) I mean, we’ve all heard the claims about feeding the hungry, but I haven’t been able to ascertain that they line up with the reality of which crops are modified, and where they are being planted. So far…

Oops, sorry Derek! Although Dexter would be quite a good nerdy name.

Hmm, a little confusing having comments about episodes here as well as a separate discussion forum. Anyhoo, I think the description of evolution as a constant gradual process in ep 12 is a little outdated. Species stay more or less constant for a long time, with transitional periods being much shorter, which is why there are so many fewer fossils of transitional forms, and why it does indeed make sense to talk about transitional forms. Also makes sense to call them missing links till we find them, missing from our knowledge at least.

I just posted something on the forums about this:
