UMSS has spawned a monster!
25Sep. 09
And, oddly enough, I only found out via Jerry Coyne at Why Evolution Is True.
To summarise the events so far:
- University of Melbourne Secular Society holds a forum on the Problem of Evil.
- Barney Zwartz publishes a written version of his speech for The Age.
- Russell Blackford posts a rebuttal and discussion on his blog.
- Andrew Sullivan of the Daily Dish posts a response to Blackford.
- Jerry Coyne responds to Sullivan.
- A reader responds to Sullivan and Sullivan responds right back.
- Coyne responds to the response to the response, prompting Sullivan to re-respond and Coyne to update his article.
- Blackford notices Sullivan.
- So do Ophelia Benson and Jason Rosenhouse. Blackford writes another article.
- Coyne can’t really be bothered responding to more Sullivan nonsense. He does, however, throw two more of Sullivan’s responses our way.
Oh, what crazed philosophical monster hath the UMSS wrought?
