Somehow today, during a bout of frantic physics googling, I was led to a link for the AVN website. Thinking that I hadn’t self-​​flagellated yet today, I decided to pop in and see how old Meryl is doing.

Right on their front page at the moment is a poll asking “What information were you given by your practitioner prior to vaccination?” Now, if I were PZ Myers (but I’m not — he has far superior facial hair) I’d rear up on my squid-​​like steed and command you all to crash the poll. But I’m not going to.

It’s not that I don’t want to, mind you. It’s just that there’s really nothing to crash. See, somewhere in between failing classes at journalism school, the writer picked up the phrase “biased polling” and mistakenly thought that was what they were meant to do. Don’t believe me? What information were you given by your practitioner prior to vaccination?

1. Government booklet/​flyer

“You were given a government booklet — and you’re going to trust that? It’s all just government propaganda!”

2. Phamaceutical company booklet/​flyer

“Oh, yeah. Like Big Pharma is going to tell you the truth about their death-​​cines.”

3. The practitioner discussed the benefits and risks with me

“Pfft. Doctors are just stooges for Big Pharma. You think they’d really tell you how dangerous vaccines are — they’d lose a massive source of income!”

4. I was given no information prior to vaccination

“Aha, see! Doctors are trying to hide the truth from us by scaring us into vaccinating instead of letting us make an informed decision!”

I’m telling you, there’s more spin on that poll than on a dreidel at Hanukkah…
