Copenhagen fail.

Copenhagen was a disaster. An article by Mark Lynas from the Guardian has been circulating the internet and I thought it a good idea to post it here for you to have a read. The article itself is about the strong arming that China pulled during the meet up. Not only refusing to set targets for itself, but not allowing other countries to set targets, some of which would spell disaster for island nations like the Maldives.
It is pretty depressing though, so if you want to enjoy your Christmas, don’t read it.

As much as I wanted Copenhagen to suceed, I am not surprised that it didn’t. Put a bunch of politicians in the room and their main priority will be the financial success of their own nation. If that means the deal is weakened or doesn’t happen, they care very little. Unfortunately, this is exactly what China did.
Will China open its borders to environmental refugees from the island nations that flood? I doubt it.

I am not sure if I agree with you fully. I am confident that many world leaders wanted a good outcome from this. I am sure Obama is sweating the heat right now as well as KRudd.
Obama has a genuine interest in looking good to his people, this is definitely not his ideal outcome. This is an omen of the future. China will become powerful, bigger and will flex its muscles more and more.
