In a shocking turn of events, Meryl Dorey, President of the Australian Vaccination Network for almost 17 years, has stepped down from her position leading the prominent vaccine-awareness group.
Citing reasons such as a lack of funds behind the AVN and the fact that her children have likely suffered due to her activism, Dorey broke the news via […]

After almost 17 years of running the AVN, it is my bittersweet duty to inform you that within the next 3  –  4 weeks I will tendering my resignation as President of this great organisation and moving on to the next stage of my own personal development as mother, wife, activist and researcher.

What’s popular on the internet? Disliking things. Also, lists of things. So in that spirit, here is my list of those who earned the largest amount of dislike from me as a skeptic in 2009. The frauds, the true believers, the complete and utter manic anti-science spazmos.
It’s been an interesting and eventful year. Simon Singh’s […]

Somehow today, during a bout of frantic physics googling, I was led to a link for the AVN website. Thinking that I hadn’t self-flagellated yet today, I decided to pop in and see how old Meryl is doing.
Right on their front page at the moment is a poll asking “What information were you given by your […]

So, there’s an email circulating around, purportedly from “qualified pharmacist” George Mamouzellos, about how the new AH1N1(2009) vaccine is horrible and dangerous and kills your children. If you haven’t already seen this email, the text is here. Let’s take a look at it.

Here’s some of the latest from anti-vaccine conspiracy morons.
Potassium chloride (30), calcium chloride (31), and sodium chloride (32) are also listed as ingredients for CSL. All three are considered mutagenic for mammalian somatic cells.
Uh huh. The vaccine has got “mutagenic” sodium chloride in it.

Ever noticed how the “proofs” offered up for positions of belief such as religion or pseudoscience always seem to rely heavily on the weight of personal anecdote? Funny that.

Could anyone give me any links or know of a website I […]
