Cross Posted At Friend of Reason
It’s time for the second installment of my “Chronicle of Belief” where I attempt to put into words my own world-view and the opinions and positions that help define me. This entry is about my identification with the label Secular Humanist, a particular world-view with which I sympathize and identify strongly. […]

…as in the case of ;this article on Conservapedia. Currently my mind is playing a kind of tug-of-war with itself; as I sit here, I can’t help but try to convince myself that this is absolutely the bottom of the barrel, and that it doesn’t get any worse than this. At […]

Tickets on sale now.

As of Friday, Australia effectively has its first saint, however she will have to wait until October to be canonised (It’ll be a sort of early Christmas present for Australia’s Catholics). I have written previously about the problems I have with Mary Mackillop’s specific road to sainthood so will not go back over them here, […]

Poor Jesus. Looks like he started hitting the ganja hard after the ‘incident’ on Easter…

Check it out if you like good writing about religion […]

Wow! Peter Geryl is crazy!
Okay, obvious responses aside, after watching the first few minutes of the Bullshit! Episode on 2012 I saw that there was this guy, who staunchly believes that the world will end when the […]

You may remember him from such recent headlines as ‘Pastor’s abortion dream inflames bushfire tragedy’, or ‘Victorian Pastor most sexist’. Well, yesterday the Melbourne Atheists organised a protest against Pastor Danny Nalliah from Catch the Fire Ministries (right).
To find out why, and to hear how it went, check out this interview I did with Sue […]

Friday Fundie #17

By Dan Kerr

Welcome once again to Friday Fundies, a weekly post that mocks, oops I mean teases, oops I mean challenges our perceptions of what it is to be a dedicated member of one of the million gods out there in the market place of K.I.S.S.
This week I have actually been accused of having had a nervous breakdown […]

On the reporting of miracles

By Chris Taylor **NEW**

Of course Mary MacKillop’s rise to sainthood was going to be reported. Australia’s first saint and all: probably a big deal if you’re a church-going Catholic. In itself, the reporting of religious affairs isn’t a problem. What is a problem, a very significant problem, is how the media handles these stories. The reporting of MacKillop’s ‘miracle’ was and continues to be a disgrace.
